☉ step one: choose your flavour of roxas one: early-mid Days aka "i am baby and understand nothing, but ice cream and friends are pretty rad ig??" two: mid-late Days aka "i still understand nothing, and i WILL die mad about it" three: digital Twilight Town aka "i'm?? definitely normal?? and i understand NOTHING, least of all why red sonic is following me" four: nebulous post-KH2-prologue timepoint aka "you are 99.9% likely to be using telepathy/lucid dreaming/diving around in people's heart stations to be picking this option" five: post-KH3 aka Here There Be Spoilers and also limitless possibilities six: WILDCARD aka if you're wanting some kind of AU, this is the option you wanna pick. canon divergence and crossover AUs are all fair game here! heck i'll even bring back DDD!roxas on request if you want
☉ step two: choose your scenario one: the obligatory ice cream prompt; look if you're friends with Roxas you are gonna be subjected to ice cream at least ONCE it is tradition and i do not make the rules two: in ur world, tryna be sneaky; for some reason the organisation has Business on your character's world and Roxas isn't as good at sneaking around as he thinks he is (alternatively depending on ur preferred roxas flavour: he's there for some other reason and isn't as good at pretending he's not from another world as he thinks he is) three: leeeeeeeeet's STRUGGLE; idk why you're in Twilight Town but congratulations you've shown up in time for the annual Struggle tournament!! now what? four: alriiiiiight, fight fight fight; what are we fighting?? heartless?? something else?? look either way he has 2 keyblades and he's not afraid to kick butt with them five: soft hanahaki; it's me of course there's gonna be a soft hanahaki prompt. grappling with the existential problems of being a Nobody, now with added magical realism flower petals that you apparently shouldn't even be capable of coughing up! (more about what soft hanahaki is here) six: interdimensional social media; whether you're following each other on kingdom hearts insta or there's something else going on here, congratulations, you're internet friends now seven: we live in a jamjar; obligatory insta-jamjar simulation prompt for all your "let's pretend we're in a jamjar game" needs eight: WILDCARD; hit me with whatever else your heart desires!!
☉ step three: comment and profit??? (format ur tags however u want! informal/formal/bracketspam/prose/comment spam/texting/social media/whatever tickles your fancy, i will match ur style accordingly!)
[ Roxas shoots Ven a look that screams "are you serious right now?" ]
C'mon, Ven, this is Sora we're talking about. He wouldn't be able to keep this a secret for longer than about five minutes. Donald's probably figured out we're on his world already.
[ that said... Roxas hopes they get to bring everyone here together soon. if Ven had shared what was crossing his mind, he would have found that he wasn't the only one worried about what the future might bring for Sora. Roxas hasn't shared it with anyone yet, but... ever since Sora returned, some time after he'd managed against all odds to send Kairi back, something about the connection between them has felt... thin. stretched out. Roxas doesn't like it, but... he also has no idea how to bring it up. ]
How long does it take to learn how to make a glider, anyways? Do you get to pick what kinda shape it has?
Good point. We'll tell him when we get back. And I wouldn't worry about Donald. I'm sure Mickey already told him about the passes he gave me anyway.
[His mind travels back to first meeting the duo and it's another happy memory. Talking about Mickey and not getting in trouble for disobeying his Master. Though thinking about his Master is a rabbit hole he didn't want to go down today so he changed subjects. Only slightly though since it was Master Eraqus who had taught him about his Glider.]
Shouldn't take you too long. Depends how much hard work you put in. [He grinned, nudging Roxas playfully again.] And not really. Your heart and your Keyblade design it together.
[ Roxas is so caught up in thinking about that that he barely registers the nudge, this time. like - how does that even work for him? for starters, he has two Keyblades. sure, he can wield them one at a time if he wants, but... it doesn't feel right when he does. they're a pair. a matched set.
for another, those Keyblades might be his now, but... they were Sora's, once. Roxas doesn't even know when the last time was that Sora called on Oathkeeper or Oblivion, but back when he did, Roxas knows they meant very different things to Sora than they do to Roxas. does that mean anything? ]
... So that must mean that your heart really, really wanted a world-hopping hoverboard, huh?
You joke but you're not wrong. I was so desperate to get away and see everything there was to see. Both Terra and Aqua have much larger Gliders where you sit and enjoy the ride. Mine's a glorified flying skateboard. I guess it also shows the difference in our ages too.
[He thought about it some more] I've grown up since then, I could probably change it. But I won't. I like my world-hopping hoverboard.
[He even liked referring to it that way. It had a nice ring to it.] Why don't we go back via The Land of Departure and we can ask Aqua about helping you create yours?
[ Roxas listens to Ven talking about all this stuff, absolutely fascinated. to someone who's had a Keyblade since the first day he came into existence, but was never actually told how to use it, the idea of being taught how to unlock all its secrets is still a weird concept to wrap his head around.
Roxas just kind of... fumbled his way through learning how to use his Keyblade. and as a result, he didn't get much farther than fighting with it and using it as a literal, albeit giant and magical, key. he doesn't even know what a life without the Keyblade would be like, but... there's so much he still doesn't know about this part of himself. ]
Hey, don't knock skateboards. You're just travelling the Lanes Between in style.
[ he grins, giving Ven a belated return nudge from earlier. but then he blinks at Ven's next tangent, knocked off-balance again. ]
She wouldn't need any warning first or anything? I think sometimes she doesn't know what to do with me when it comes to teaching stuff.
[ something about "having to think about how we can adapt the classic forms to your style". which he guesses is Master talk for "the way you use Keyblades is weird and confusing, and you're not supposed to have two of them." ]
I'm not knocking anything. I love my Glider the way it is.
[He continued to grin and finally got up, letting Chirithy sort out the remainder of the ice cream. At the comment about Aqua though, he gave his brother a disapproving look.]
Do you give warning whenever you return home? She'll be fine, you'll see.
Well... [ Roxas trails off, perhaps tellingly. then he drops his gaze to the side and mumbles: ] Sometimes.
[ it's one of the things him and Isa have come up with, as a stop-gap measure while they figure their way around each other. a heads-up for days when one or both of their moods are frayed at the edges. but - Ven doesn't need to worry about that. ]
But okay, I'll trust you. Which means it's your fault if I end up giving her a headache.
