[ log: when the moon is bright with a pale blue light, and trouble is nearby... ]
[ it is a well-known fact that any show that you enjoy watching is at least twice as enjoyable when you watch it with someone who enjoys it just as much as you do. that would be the reason as to why Pearl Fey, hair unbound from its pretzel knot and in casual clothes for once, is using her day off from training to come down to L.A. to spend her day with the man formerly known as the Demon Prosecutor.
as she rings the doorbell, she rocks back and forth in her sandals, the bag of healthy snack foods she brought along bouncing slightly against her side. truth be told, she's excited to see Mr. Edgeworth again; it's been a long time, and they've both been busy with their respective responsibilities lately. it'll be nice to catch up with something that they both enjoy, even if she wishes that Mystic Maya and Mr. Nick could have been here too. ]

[Yet here he was, fidgeting and nervously glancing at the front door, with the book in his hands mostly forgotten. He scolded himself, not for the first time that afternoon. Yes, children in general made him uncomfortable--they were unpredictable and he didn't know the first thing about dealing with them. But this wasn't just any bad mannered little brat. This was the most kindhearted child he had ever encountered, a girl who would never dream of hurting anyone. Well, would never dream of hurting him, he thought. Wright was apparently another matter. He smirked as he remembered how Pearl Fey reacted whenever she thought Wright had wronged her dear cousin.]
[Still, as long as they had known each other this was one of the first times they had spent time together without other people around to run interference. One of the first times he took full responsibility for her while she was under his care. The way that made him feel reassured him that he was right when he decided never to even entertain the thought of adopting a child. He would take with a delighted smile all of the most high stress, high profile cases the office threw at him, but raising a child would undoubtedly lead him to a nervous breakdown.]
[It was at about that point in his musings that the doorbell range; he shot to his feet and stiffly crossed the room to open the door.]
[He wasn't sure what he meant to say in greeting, but it died in his throat when he was presented with a sight he had never seen before: Pearl Fey, completely casual. Even her hair was down from its gravity-defying pretzel loops. Edgeworth stared for a moment then cleared his throat.]
Miss Fey. It's a pleasure to see you again. [He gave her a little bow then stepped back to welcome her into the apartment.] Did you get here via a worldhop?

Um, actually, I took the train. [ she laughed and gave a little bow of her own in return before she stepped into the apartment, beaming brightly at him. ] It's a pleasure to see you again too, Mr. Edgeworth! I hope you've been doing okay?
[ he'd seemed shocked when he answered the door. had she showed up too early, or was it really that strange to see her wearing something other than her training yukata? ]
