[ log: bitty!roxas & sora; keyblades and ice cream ]
[ another day, another of Twilight Town's perpetual sunsets. it's easing into autumn around the town now, but that isn't going to stop small kids being small kids, ie running around town with reckless abandon as much as their parents will let them. especially when the small children in question have Hayner-i'm-almost-five-now as a ringleader. and especially not when said ringleader has challenged his three friends to a race.
it's getting pretty late; the streets are almost empty of people now, market street and tram common winding down for closing time, and they should all probably think about heading home soon. but there's always time for one more race. especially when there's ice cream and pocket money at stake ("last one there buys the ice cream next time!").
so the four of them are busy racing along the quiet streets creating probably much more noise than they should be, Roxas about level with Olette and trying to catch up with Hayner, who's already managed to get ahead. perfectly normal evening. absolutely no chance of anything out of the ordinary happening. right? ]

"did you guys see that?" he calls out - but while he was busy gaping at the the sky and tripping over his own feet, the others have already pulled ahead. "hey! I saw a real shooting star, you have to--" oh. nevermind. Roxas lets out a huff of frustration. he's definitely lost the race by now anyway thanks to that star. so maybe...?
it didn't look like it fell too far from where he is. he could go and take a look quickly before heading home, right? it wouldn't take that much time... and it would totally make up for losing. he nods to himself and sets off running in that direction, panting slightly as he reaches the slope of the hill and clambers to the top. he has to lean on his knees when he's done, but he's sure this is the place. and--
whoa. is that a person? he'll just be. edging towards them gingerly. did he fall out of the sky? ]
Are you okay?
no subject
Mh? Oh!
[Then he sits up, not really bothered to stand. He's on the kid's eye-level like this, after all.]
Hehe, yeah. No worries.
no subject
Were you that shooting star? [ because wooooow. he really is lying inside a huge crater. ]
no subject
Shooting star...? Yeah, I guess so. I surprised you, huh. Sorry about that. [He thinks.]
My name's Sora, by the way. What's yours?
no subject
Oh, uh, I'm Roxas. [ shuffle. beat. ] Did you come from space?
no subject
Sure did! I got knocked off course by a space ship and fell. Kind of embarassing, huh.
no subject
then he plops down on the ground in front of Sora, because this guy is interesting and he seems okay. ] What happened to your spaceship?
[ because everyone in space has their own spaceship, right? ]
no subject
Mine? [Well, a Glider is almost a space ship, so he figures it counts.] Well, I could show you. It's kind of a secret thing though. Think you can keep it to yourself?
no subject
after a moment, he nods. ] Yeah, 'course I can!
no subject
Ready?
[Not that he waits for an answer. He throws the keyblade, that goes whirling into the sky, only to return, moments later, in the shape of his Glider.]
no subject
[ he might have jumped a little when that happened. but this? this is so cool. ]
How did you do that?
no subject
[He reaches for the glider, which winks out, returning to his hand as his keyblade.]
You know? I think you could probably learn it, too.
no subject
no subject
[He crouches down facing Roxas, flipping his hold of the keyblade and offering the handle to the younger boy.]
...if you can hold this key?
no subject
[ he reaches out, wrapping one hand around the handle almost uncertainly. ]
no subject
[It's recited, something learned by heart and internalised, but he means it, too. When he looks at Roxas, he smiles, even though it hurts him. Makes him think about the ones he loves.
Riku turning on him like an enemy. Kairi, Kairi looking at him like they never met-
It's not what he wants to think about right now, but when he smiles, the pain isn't quite gone yet.]
You're always gonna look out for your friends, right?
no subject
My friends...? [ for a moment he almost looks surprised, but then he nods decisively. ] Yeah! They're what's important, right?
[ is he just imagining things, or does Sora look kind of... sad? even though he's smiling? ]
no subject
[And then he recovers, puts that to the back of his mind. Now's now. There's no point in dwelling on it or thinking too hard about it at the moment.]
Speaking of!
[And the keyblade vanishes, just like that.]
You and your friends. What do you guys do for fun?
no subject
For fun? Um... [ he scuffs the ground a bit with his shoe. ] Hayner likes to make us race a lot, and Pence likes to inves- investi- look at stuff. But mostly we just--
[ wait. that's it. he might not know why Sora seems sad, or how to ask about it, but-- ]
Wait, wait, I can show you! If you wanna.
no subject
[That's a pretty happy grin there. He likes the idea.]
no subject
[ and he's off, rushing down the hill and back into town, turning around occasionally to make sure Sora's following. maybe he shouldn't rush, but he can't help being excited about his idea, and besides, he has to get to the shop before they close. sooner or later, he's leading Sora into tram common and making a beeline for the ice cream shop. ]
W- wait a second.
[ slightly out of breath, he starts rummaging in his pockets for munny, and also... a-ha! WINNER stick acquired! ]
no subject
He nearly walked right into Roxas. But only nearly.]
Hm? Something wrong?
no subject
[ he waves the WINNER stick at Sora with a smile before taking the couple steps to the shop counter and stretching up on tip-toe to see over the top properly, catching the attention of the salesperson. ]
Two sea-salt ice creams, please! I've got a winner stick.
